Eight Twelve Sixteen
A downloadable game
In a recent video Dungeon Craft on Youtube made the argument that all math in Dungeons and Dragons and similar games can be boiled down to "if you're good at something you need to roll an 8 or more on a d20, ok at something a 12, and if you're not great at something you need to roll a 16 or more". He argued that Monster DCs scaled equally with the players abilities, making this true at all levels. Inspired by this idea I decided to make a Simple D&D themed game where you roll 8 12 or 16 as laid out in Dungeon Craft's video. I also made the game Player Facing and had Armor reduce Damage. I also added a Level Scaling system. Basically, you always roll 8 12 or 16 for tasks that are of the same level as you, but if its bellow or above your level there are bonuses and penalties. This was a fun little mental exercise, and I commend Professor DM for really pealing back the layers of Gaming. I hope you all like 8-12-16. It's only 2 pages including the character sheet.
